Ronny Collins

Let me introduce you to Ronald Pat Collins, best known as Ronny.  He was born and raised in Stamford, TX, the home of the Texas Cowboy Reunion.  Stamford is located about 40 miles north of Abilene. 

Not only is Ronny one heck of a songwriter, he has a terrific singing voice as well as a fine stage persona.  Music is 100% a way of life in his household.  He and his wife, Saundra, both love music and have performed all over Texas.  Country, gospel, and maybe a little rock-n-roll can be heard daily in their home. 

Collins honed his skills from the Old Man himself, the late Howard Crockett.  He still laughs about Crock working with him on his phrasing, not only on every line, but every word. 

Ronny’s latest, and probably his best, album has two of Crockett’s favorite all time songs on it; “Whispering Pines” and “Jimmy Jacobs”.  His rendition of both songs, along with the others on this album, has a very different sound than you may have heard before.  As Crock would say, “You nailed every word, Collins.”

Ronny brings a traditional country sound back to country music.  Not only is he a fine singer, songwriter and performer, he is as genuine as his Texas roots.  The other songs on this album, some written by him, will point this out.  The album is quite appropriately titled “Whispering Pines”.

A single release of “Do You Remember Me” did quite well in Ireland.  Ronny both wrote and performed this song.  Other single releases, “Mug of Tears,” “I’m Learning not to Love You,” Raining in Jackson,” and “Headin’ for Dixie” have earned him international success.

Ronny’s love of country music is heartfelt as his music personifies.  Take a listen to any of his recordings to gain an appreciation of true, classical country music.
